Christmas Card workshop and Award Winning Scrapbook layout

Hey Everyone!!  I know it's been forever since I posted anything!  But I wanted to let you all know I will be having a Christmas Card Workshop on Saturday November 1st at 1pm!  Just click on the Christmas Card Workshop tab for more information and pictures!!

I also wanted to post my "award winning" scrapbook layout I did for the Artistic U Scrapbook Retreat in October!  I won second place!!  I tied with three other people for second, but I am still so excited!!  There were 22 entries!  So I say being in the top 5 is AWESOME!!

Here it is!!

It was really fun to make!  The pictures are of me with my Mom and Sister Heather, Adrian with our niece and nephews, my sister in law with her two cute boys, and more nieces!  I love Halloween!  It's my favorite holiday after Christmas, and it's a close second!!

To make this layout, here is what I used:

I used the Moonlight paper pack, the stamp set from the Moonlight workshop on the go, the Perfect Fit-Halloween stamp set, and the bat from the All Hallows Eve stamp set.  The Moonlight paper pack only comes with one Slate Cardstock, so if you want two pages in Slate, like I used, you would have to order it separately.  I also used some Sweet Leaf Cardstock I had on hand for the Happy Halloween, and that is not in the paper pack.  I used Archival black ink , because it is much darker than our black dye based ink.  I also used Goldrush ink, and Smokey Plum ink.  I used CTMH's new alcohol based markers in Smokey Plum to color the mummy.  I love those new markers!  They come in a two pack and there is a dark and a light color and they blend really well and go on very smooth!  I used CTMH's black striped ribbon, and some of the retired black grosgrain ribbon for the banners on the Right page.  I used black hemp for the web one spider is hanging from, for the "Spooky" banner, and to tie around the smallest picture.  I used CTMH's NEW Cricut cartridge, Artiste to cut the Spider web at 6in., the two spiders, the word Spooky (which I cut apart), the banners "spooky" is on, the journaling spot, the circles for the perfect fit stamps, the black cat, and the frame behind the picture of the girl with the blue princess dress on.  I used Liquid Glass to cover both spiders so they look like they are made out of epoxy.  A hint with that is start at the outside edge and make a border, then work your way in to the middle and down the legs, so you don't get spillover.  I also used my paper piercer to hold them down so they would flatten and pulled it away before it could make a hole in the liquid glass.  I used our new black sparkles to embellish with and our red sparkles for eyes on the spiders.  I used our new Green Glitz glitter gel on the banners and for the cat's eyes,  Bronze Glitz glitter gel  on the banners and Red Glitz glitter gel for the bats eyes. I used CTMH's Black Tulle on the picture with the blue princess.  I tied it in the middle with some black hemp, cut the ends as short as I could and used a glue dot to adhere it.  Then I topped it off with a Gray sparkle from the Haunted Assortment .

More tips:

A hint on the lamp post, I stamped it directly onto the page.  Then I stamped just the "lamp" part of the lamp post on the back side of the striped paper from the Moonlight paper pack, and colored it with some Goldrush ink and our blending pen to make it look like the light is on!  Also, the Mummy is cut out and adhered with our 3D foam tape.  The smallest picture, the banner and the spiders are all on 3D foam tape too.  I adhered the spider web with liquid glass to the page where I wanted it, then cut the rest off.  I used our sponge daubers and the black ink to ink the edges of all the papers and cardstock.  I used glue dots to adhere the "hanging" web and the ends of the banner, before putting the gray sparkles on.

So, I have the measurements for this page written down, and I put the paper in a "safe" place so I wouldn't lose it, and now I can't find it!!  I guess it's TOO safe!!  So, when I do find it, I will post them so you can make this layout yourself!  I hope my instructions were helpful!  If you have any questions, you can always email me at jenniferropp@yahoo.com and I am happy to help!  I'm planning on being better about posting things, so look for more posts soon!

Happy Scrappin'!

It's National Stamping Month and there is a New Idea Book out for Fall and Winter!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted last!  I broke my ankle in July, so it's been hard to sit for very long without a lot of pain.  But, I'm on the mend now, YAY!  Anyway, I'm a bit behind on things, so I'm trying to catch up!

There's a brand new Idea Book out right now for Fall and Winter 2011!  It has TONS of new products in it!  Also, the best part, is that the prices are now lower on My Reflections paper packs, and My Acrylix stamp sets!  Wooo Hooo!  So exciting!!  The other AWESOME thing, and probably my FAVORITE thing in the new Idea book is, and Exclusive to Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge!  It comes in a bundle with 3 stamp sets and 3 co-ordinating chipboard sets!  The reason it comes bundled is...you can now cut the images of your stamps with your Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge!  That is the BEST news since sliced bread, in my opinion!!  You can cut all the images of the bundled stamps and any stamp in the Idea book that has a red outline around it!  There are 700 images on the Art Philosopy cartridge including 3D items!!  I am in LOVE!!!
Check it out!  The possibilities are endless!

National Stamping Month

September is National Stamping Month!  To Celebrate, Close to My Heart is offering the first ever double stamp set called Pair a Phrase!  When you purchase $75 in awesome Close to My Heart products you will receive this adorable double stamp set for FREE!!!  It has an image and saying for every month of the year, GREAT for cardmaking and scrapbooking!  I've already made a card with it and I love it!!  What a GREAT deal!!  This deal is good until the end of September so get it while you can!!

Here is the card I made using Pair a Phrase
So much fun!!!  For this card I used the new Sonoma paper pack with Smokey Plum Cardstock, Olive Cardstock and Colonial White Cardstock. I used our Exclusive Inks Markers to color the bike and the flowers, and I used our Sparkles from the Red, Pink and Purple Assortment.  This new paper is so easy to work with because it's almost as thick as Cardstock!  Plus you get a unique pattern on both sides and a strip on top you can use as a border!  I'm lovin' it!  Here is some more artwork I made this month.

I made this card using August's Stamp of the Month
WICKED

To make this card I used the new paper pack Mischief. I also used Black Cardstock,  and Barn Red Cardstock.  The reason it's shiny is because I used Black Embossing powder to Emboss both the witch and the sentiment.  I also used our clear Bitty Sparkles to embellish the sentiment and put a "ring" on the witch's finger.  I also distressed the Cardstock in black ink.

Here is the layout I made last week with Fanfare
Yes! you get to see Halloween and the Fourth of July in the same post! LOL!

These are our Flip Flaps!  They allow you to add more photos to your layout without sacrificing space!  I love them, and use them often!

Here are a few close ups of the embellishments (the star paperclips and the rhinestones are not ours, shhh! Don't tell! LOL)

For this layout I used the Fanfare paper pack, Cranberry Cardstock, and Pacifica Cardstock.  The stamp set I used was July's Stamp of the Month "American Celebration".  I also used "In the Month of July" and the retired "July Word Puzzle".  The Exclusive Inks I used are Cranberry, Pacifica, Sunny Yellow, and Sunflower.  I sanded the Cardstock and random stamped the Pacifica Cardstock.  I stamped July 4th directly on the paper under the pictures.  I used Sunny Yellow ink to color the chipboard stars (from the Flurry chipboard).  I used Cranberry Grosgrain ribbon.  I distressed all the paper except the Cranberry Cardstock in Pacifica Ink.  I sanded the Cranberry Cardstock.  To tie the ribbons to the side of the left hand page on the vertical picture I used some grommets that are now retired and punched holes in the middle of them.  To make the "Let Freedom Ring" embellishment I cut a circle from White Daisy Cardstock, and stamped the starburst in Sunny Yellow.  Then I placed my clear block over the circle and gently curved the sentiment "Let Freedom Ring". It is normally a straight stamp, but the beauty of clear stamps and clear blocks is you can curve them or straighten them to fit your needs.  I then chose two stars, with one in the middle to stamp the words between and did that 3 times even all the way around, but you will cover the uneven part with the rocket and stars.  After that I stamped the rocket in cranberry and the stars coming out of the rocket in cranberry on a separate sheet of white daisy cardstock. Then I stamped the stars coming out of the rocket in Pacifica..  Then cut out the rocket and the Pacifica stars including the dots and adhere to the middle of  the circle.  I used foam tape to pop up the rocket.  Then cut two Cranberry stars out from your other stamped image and glue them over the Pacifica ones. For the big star on the other page I stamped first in Sunny Yellow, then rolled the edges in Sunflower Ink to give it a two toned effect!  The firecrackers on the left hand page are from the My Stickease that go with Fanfare.  I just inked the edges and used foam tape to pop it up from the page.

For the month of September you can purchase this cute and versatile stamp set called Limited Edition!  You can either purchase it for $17.95 or you can get it for only $5 with a $50 purchase!!  Click on the link above to check it out! Notice the cute card with the flower on it?  Most of these products in this picture were cut with the new Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge!
